Between 18:30 and 08:00 Monday to Friday, also at weekends and Bank Holidays the surgery phone line is closed.
Our telephone lines during certain hours will divert you to GP Care Wakefield.
If you need to see a doctor urgently when the surgery is closed you can also phone the NHS 111 service on 111. If appropriate they will pass a message to the Doctor on duty who may phone you to assess your problem. You might be asked to attend the out-of-hours clinic or receive a home visit. You should use the NHS 111 service if you urgently need medical help or advice but it’s not a life-threatening situation however if you experience severe chest pain, loss of blood, loss of consciousness or suspected broken bones go to your nearest A&E Department or call 999.
The nearest NHS Walk-In centre is located in Wakefield at King Street Health Centre; this centre is open between 10:00am and 22:00pm, 7 days a week. Walk-In services can provide: Urgent initial treatment for emergencies such as suspected meningitis, asthma attacks and airway obstruction. Treatment for minor injuries and illnesses such as cuts and wounds, sore throats, bites or stings, rashes and allergic reactions, coughs and colds, muscle or joint injuries, earache, eye injuries and infections, emergency contraception. Walk-In services can not provide repeat prescriptions (without the approval of your registered GP unless in an emergency) medical certificates or Accident and Emergency.
NHS 111 Service
NHS 111 is service that was introduced to make it easier to access local NHS healthcare services. You can call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency. NHS 111 is a fast and easy way to get the right help, whatever the time.
