Further Help & Advice

Accident and Emergency Departments and 999 Services are for serious emergency cases. An emergency is a critical or life-threatening situation that may include loss of consciousness, severe chest pain, head injury or loss of blood. People who use these services for minor problems may prevent others with life-threatening conditions from getting the immediate care they need.

At Wakefield NHS Walk-in Centre, King Street, Wakefield you can turn up to see a nurse if you think you need treatment for a minor illness or ailment (no doctors at the walk-in centre) no appointment is necessary. Open 7 days a week 08:00 – 20:00.

If the situation is less critical and you are unsure what to do, call the NHS 111 Service, which is a 24-hour health advice line, staffed by nurses and health information advisors. The telephone number is 111

PALS can provide confidential the spot advice and support, helping you to sort out any concerns you may have about your care and guide you through the different NHS services. The service is open from 08:30 to 16:30 Monday to Friday and is based at Douglas Mill, Bradford. The service can be contacted on 0800 0525 270 or by email at WestYorksPALS@nhs.net
